Titans vs Vikings: Biggest Storylines heading into Preseason Week 2

The Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings have been going at it all week in the yearly joint practice part of training camp. This long and hard week of practice will end in a preseason game, as the Titans will play the Vikings in Minneapolis. Here is everything you need to know about the game on Saturday!!

Will Levis may not play

Levis left practice early yesterday with a lower leg injury, and his status for Saturday is up in the air. If Levis can’t go, expect Malik Willis to play most of the game if not all of it. Ten currently has no other QB option on the roster that could play Saturday. Tannehill is on the roster, but obviously won’t play in this game. Malik Willis could really widen the gap in the QB2 competition if he comes out and performs well on Saturday with no Levis in the lineup…

Will the Backup O-Line Bounce Back?

The Titans’ starting O-Line looked great in the one series they played last week, but the second team looked terrible. Levis and Willis both went down four times each, as the O-Line gave up a combined eight sacks. Tackle Jaelyn Duncan looked good at times, but the rest of the guys were awful. Guard Zach Johnson and Tackle Andrew Rupich were two guys who stood out in the wrong way. It doesn’t get any easier this week as Ten will have to face a Vikings team with pretty good depth up front. The rest of the defense is questionable, but that part is good. Let’s see if this second team O-Line can improve and show some signs of growth on Saturday…

The WR Show

We all know that Treylon Burks’ injury is a worst-case scenario for the Titans’ WR room, even though Mike Vrabel would disagree with many. It happened, so we must power through for the next couple of weeks, and see what these other guys got. Someone needs to step up in the room because Hopkins can’t do everything by himself. Kyle Philips is the guy who will most likely step up but don’t rule out the NWIs and Chris Moores of the world. Dowell, McMath, and Roberson could also be playmakers, but they are fighting for the same roster spot. The UDFA rookies have been making plays, but none are capable of being a WR2. Let’s just pray and hope one of these guys steps up and plays well alongside D-Hop until Treylon is back…

Preseason Week 2 is almost upon us, as we will start to see which players will make the roster, and which players will be cut sooner rather than later. Make sure to watch the game on Saturday, but if you can’t, SharmSports will have a live drive-by-drive updates page going all night long!!
